How To Choose The Best Blender For Baby Food

If you’re curious how to choose the best blender for baby food, read this article for some tips that will come in handy.

Whipping up “meals” for your tot doesn’t necessarily require serious cooking skills. All you need are the right ingredients, durable equipment and a boat load of patience.

Because some of my friends know I have never fed my child with those “just add water” stuff, they often ask me how to choose the best blender for baby food.

The thing is, my own experience wasn’t perfect either. I initially bought one that didn’t suit my needs and couldn’t keep up with regular, daily use.

In short, it broke just after a few uses, and that’s a big bummer because I planned on using it until my little one outgrew the puree phase.

How To Choose?

1. Durability

It’s perhaps one of the most important factors to consider before purchasing.

You see, you have the option of making big batches and store them for future consumption. But, like me, some of you may want to make it daily – mostly because I find the “cook and eat” process easier than storing and thawing.

Thus, it’s essential to pick a model that can withstand beating – meaning, you’d want something that can blend a wide variety of ingredients and won’t break even if you use it 1-2x a day every day.

2. Price

Set a budget so that you won’t go overboard. Remember, there are inexpensive blenders that do the job nicely.

Although I admit, some models have additional and attractive features like travel lids that let you drink straight from the jar (but isn’t exactly applicable when it comes to baby food), a technology that allows it to crush and blend any ingredient in just seconds, and a mess-free spout.

You have to bear in mind that not all expensive items are durable and will suit your needs. To be fair, some brands have blenders that can last for years with daily use and which won’t break the bank.

3. Easy cleaning and maintenance

It goes without saying that after-care is often more exhausting that the blending.

Sometimes, it’s difficult to clean the hard-to-reach places in the blender such as the blades. Pureed food can also get stuck in the tiniest nook.

That’s why you should opt for a blender that makes both the cleaning and maintenance a breeze and fuss-free.

4. Compact

This could boil down to personal preference, by the way. Because if you have an extra counter space to spare, it won’t be much of an issue.

But for those who prefer one that’s space-saving and easy to store, you might want to check the dimensions if it will fit in nicely on your countertop or kitchen cabinet. Like for me, I prefer a blender that I can put away quickly.

5. Noise level

I think I speak for every mum when I say that a blender’s whirring sound is like nails on a chalkboard – irritating and gets on your nerves easily even if it’s just for a few seconds.

According to a study, the sound level of a blender is at 88 dB which is more than that of a vacuum cleaner (at 70 dB). (source) Thus, it’s good to choose the product with as little noise as possible.

Conclusion

If you get the right one that perfectly suits your needs, it’s life-changing I’m telling you. Preparing food will be easy and exciting and not to mention, your child will get all the nutrients they need minus the preservatives.

And get this, you know what exactly goes in their baby food. That’s a win-win for everybody.
